Pulpit to Pew by Pastor Eckman:
“The church on the highway pointing men to the HIGH WAY!” ? As a grade school boy I recall hearing the voice of my pastor, Fred Stair, declaring the good news of God’s word over the airwaves of a radio station near my home town of Barron, Wis. He would conclude each broadcast by saying the above statement. The words have stuck in my mind and heart over the years. It is my earnest desire that our church located on highway H Southeast of Elkhorn might be pointing men to the HIGH WAY. The spire of our church points heavenward as does the pulpit preaching of our church. Men need to be prepared for life and for death.
A man was lost in a large city and so stopped to ask a man on the sidewalk directions to his destination. The man started giving directions several times and each time he stopped short of his destination. In frustration he finally responded: “You can’t get there from here, you’ll have to start somewhere else!” ? My friend, if you’re lost and frustrated, we know the One who is THE WAY to heaven! We can introduce you to Him, it is Jesus Christ who said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” John 14:6. Trust Him today as Savior.
Testimony by Jane Hansen:
Hi, my name is Jane Hansen. I thought I was saved when I was younger (6 or 7). I went through life a sinner until I was 11. Then last year I got my life right with the Lord and now I have to get baptized and I want to be a member. I’m attending a Christian school at East Delavan church and am in 7th grade. This year will be my third year attending and I love going there! Well, the Lord has been great to me. My favorite chapter in the Bible is Psalm 8.
Testimony by Peggy Wright:
In 1966 I accepted Christ as my precious Savior. Because He has promised no man can pluck me out of His hand, that I am secure as His child, I’ve never doubted He is mine for all eternity. Even when I go astray, He remains my Father. He draws me again to Himself. Today I am certain of His direction. In whatever situation I’m in, He disciplines, challenges, uplifts me and I learn blessed lessons. I believe in every human being there exists an emptiness within. We as individuals are searching for the ideal security, trust, truth and love. We may look to family, spouse, friends, but I must proclaim there is One who loves beyond man’s description. His name is “Truth,” “Counselor,” “Wonderful,” “Prince of Peace” – He is the Christ of the Bible. He left His exalted position with God the Father to come down to this sin cursed earth in the form of man. He did this for Peggy Wright. He did this for you. Jesus sweat drops of blood for me. He subjected Himself to beatings and humiliation. He resisted not the spikes that were driven into His loving hands. Oh, supreme love of all, the perfect God-man laid on Himself my sins and your sins. He became literal sin on that cruel tree so that even God could not look upon Him. Praise His precious, precious name! He loved me enough to die in my place, the most terrible death of all time. Through His shed blood I am washed white as snow. Come to Him and let His abundant love flood your life.
